It's a group we don't know that much about - The Signers of the Declaration. Sure, we know about Tommy Jeff and that brewer Sam Adams, his brother John and the guy that signed his name big. But what about the whaler, the pop singer and the doctors. How about the two elderly men who signed as their last political acts. What about the conservative Merchant who, after hearing John Adams speech switched his vote and tilted the convention to independence.
To some degree, these are the 'old school' founders. That's why they arent as vibrant to us as the younger generation Madison, Hamilton and Burr. Stephen Hopkins could barely sign. Sure we know the famous signers. But none of the famous men lost their son to the cause as Abraham Clark did. They weren't captured, as Richard Stockton was. They did have to hide in a dog kennell ala John Hart. Unlike Lewis Morris, these famous men didn't see their house burnt to the ground.
